APC Overnight / APC Gazelle, WordPress & Parcel Tracking

Project overview

Established in 1994, APC Overnight is the UK's largest independent delivery networks featuring over 100 depots nationwide. Throughout their network, APC collect, route and deliver millions of parcels to UK, European and International destinations every month.

Based in Wokingham, Berkshire, APC Gazelle is one of the founding and largest APC Overnight depots. Their original website was developed over 15 years ago and obviously not with today's mobile device users in mind. It was also misaligned with the APC brand and lacked a content management system or any functionality enabling customers to track progress of parcel deliveries online.

Throughout the design and development process, we worked closely with APC Overnight to ensure brand guidelines were followed and to produce a website framework for APC Gazelle that could be utilised to help other network depots launch APC branded websites. For flexibility, SEO reasons and ease of use by individual depot web teams, WordPress was chosen as the content management system.

The new website is now mobile responsive, adapting to the screen size in use whether mobile, tablet or desktop. It also delivers brand consistency with APC vehicle livery and central marketing material for APC Gazelle. To solve the problem and need for on-site parcel tracking, we introduced custom API integrations between WordPress and their consignment booking services, NetDespatch and Hypaship. APC customers are now able to track a parcel directly on the website.
